Our department was established in 2008 and began admitting students to its undergraduate program in the 2010-2011 academic year, and to its graduate program in the 2013-2014 academic year. Our department's academic staff consists of 2 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, 2 Research Assistants with a PhD, and 2 Research Assistants. The objective of the department is to teach historical events that have influenced humanity as a social entity starting from antiquity, alongside phenomena such as politics, economy, religion, and art. Within the programs of the Department of History, General Turkish History, the History of the Republic of Turkey, and the surrounding histories and cultures that shape these fields hold a special place. Within this framework, alongside introducing source documents that qualify history as a science and the methods to research them, disciplines such as economics, law, and sociology are also included to help historians acquire the skills to analyze past events.

Mission

As the Department of History, our mission is to train open-minded, enlightened, and creative-thinking historians who are proficient in source languages by conducting studies based on primary sources in Turkish History in particular, and World History in general.

Vision

Our vision is to train historians who possess contemporary, scientific, technological, and cultural knowledge, pushing beyond the classical molds of history education. We aim to integrate these historians into society not merely as individuals who transfer professional field knowledge, but as professionals possessing a true historian identity who can produce new information and interpretations in their field. Furthermore, we envision creating a department that makes a name for itself both regionally and globally.
